Kenneth Young – I Love Litigating Cases.
What separates Kenneth Young from other lawyers stems from his enormous passion for protecting his clients. He is a strong advocate for individual rights and criminal defense, with the experience that only participating in over a thousand trials can give you. If you feel that you have been wronged, want to protect your constitutionally given rights or perhaps are facing serious criminal charges, Kenneth Young wants to protect you.
Kenneth Young’s had passion for the criminal justice system since he was a high school student in Cheltenham PA, a few blocks from the Philadelphia city limits. At 15 he became an official legislative aid for the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. While still in High School, Kenneth assisted in the writing of legislation and served on various political campaigns. While in College at Hofstra University in NY Kenneth spent many a night sitting on a bench with the judge in Night Court in the Bronx, developing a passion for trial litigation.
After graduating Delaware Law School at Widener University, Mr. Young became a protege of Thurgood Marshall Award of the Criminal Justice Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association recipient and legal legend, Stanford Shmukler, who argued for Miranda rights (protecting against unlawful confessions) in front of the US Supreme Court in 1966. Another big influence on Mr. Young was working with Bernard Siegal who was a successful trial lawyer who often appeared before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court before becoming a court-appointed homicide-case lawyer.
“Something happens when I go to into the courtroom and see my client or organization I’m representing - I become a different kind of advocate - it becomes me. It becomes MY case."
When I do my arguments in front of a jury or a judge I give it life. It’s a spontaneous reaction, like a religious experience – I get so emotional and so intense, but it’s totally natural to me. Spontaneity is the most important thing in law. It’s honest and from the heart. I give them ALL, no matter what the case is or the facts are. Everyone is entitled to representation. I protect all my clients. It’s our job. I feel very strongly about that.
Working in the law industry since 1986 has helped Kenneth get to know all the major players in the Philadelphia legal field. He knows both the system and the people, which is a tremendous advantage for his clients. As a criminal lawyer, Kenneth Young is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the Federal and State Courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has been involved with trial cases in every county in Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Kenneth Young believes people’s civil liberties MUST be protected. “Politically I’m all over the spectrum, but the constitution is essential and we have to stand up for the little guy. If we don’t follow the rules, the system breaks. Everyone should be free from illegal searches, unlawful interrogations, and we have to uphold that, it’s essential. They say and I believe “It’s better for a guilty man to go free than for an innocent man to go to jail.” But I also love civil litigation too. Half of my practice is civil cases and half is criminal cases, both in federal and in state court.
